Monastic Support
We fund and support the maintenance, renovation, and upgrading of the living and study facilities of monasteries and Dharma institutions, especially those of:
Sakya College, Dehradun, India
Sakya College
Sakya College for Nuns
Sakya Phuntsog Phrodang, New Delhi, India
International Buddhist Academy, Kathmandu, Nepal
Tharlam Monastery, Kathmandu, Nepal
KAF provides funding for the hiring of architects, interior designers, and engineering consultants for such projects. Depending on the scale of a renovation project, we also coordinate and supervise work, liaising between the contractors and the institution in question. See below for the progress of some of these projects.

Sakya College - Retreat Center
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the monastic community, we are developing a new three-storey retreat centre at Sakya College, located next to the Library building. This retreat centre will provide a peaceful environment for senior Sakya lamas and dedicated lay disciples to engage in deep study and meditation. Alongside this project, we continue to improve living conditions and facilities for the monks, ensuring they have the comfort and resources needed to focus fully on their spiritual practice and education.

Sakya College for Nuns
At Sakya College for Nuns, we are undertaking several projects to improve the study and living environment for the nuns. The Library Renovation Project will transform part of the ground-floor corridor into a bright, modern library and reading area, opening onto the back garden for a peaceful atmosphere. In addition, we are enhancing the rooftop with a new aluminum covering to prevent water leakage, along with upgraded waterproofing and a renewed water tank system. These improvements help ensure the nuns have a safe, comfortable, and inspiring place to study and practice.

The project includes renovating rooms, the kitchen, and toilets within the main shrine building, as well as installing a new water tank and strengthening key structural sections. These enhancements help preserve the monastery’s integrity while providing a cleaner, more supportive environment for the monks’ daily study and practice.
