“It is extremely rare for three things to come together: Someone who wants to learn the Dharma, the Dharma to be learned, and a teacher who expounds the Dharma. This is why, briefly stated, samsara is both endless and not endless.”

Monks’ Training Program

The IBA Monks’ Training Program is designed for monks who have graduated from one of the Sakya colleges, e.g. Sakya College, Dzongsar Institute, Puruwala, Sakya Mungod, or Darjeeling.

The objective of this program is to provide these monks with a strong foundation to embark on the next phase of their careers. From a very early age, most of these monks spent their time exclusively focused on Buddhist training and study, in a completely Tibetan environment. This program will assist monks in transitioning into and engaging with the modern world and with an international and non-monastic environment, allowing them to gain confidence, general knowledge, and linguistic skills. It is envisioned that these monks will eventually assist in the organization of Dharma activities for laypeople, as well as in providing support within their own Tibetan community. The above will include teaching and assisting in Dharma centers, providing support for senior Rinpoches, translating and publishing simple Dharma texts, organizing Dharma events, training and leading the next generation of monks, and managing Dharma centers—including better management of monasteries and colleges.

The program will consist of the following courses:

  • English training course

  • Chinese training course

  • Office management and computer skills course

KAF actively seeks qualified professionals to help run our training programs at IBA. For more information about the details of these courses, kindly write to us here.
